What is the best material?

Hi i have an 8 week old kelpie x and i am building it a little run to sleep in and play in and i am going to enclose some of it in. Is it a good idea to put aluminium on the roof of the house ares and leave the rest un in closed with some wire around it i am going to put a house in the enclosed bit so should i put aluminium on the roof?
