How should I take this complicated perdicament?

I (female) have become fairly good friends with this guy, but, it was never strictly platonic. We were talking about starting something up...but ended just becoming friends. has been a topic of discussion for quite a while, and I know he thouroughly enjoys the idea, but he is leaving everything up to me. Now what confuses me is that... he has been very open, and honest with me, and the other day, he told me he loves me ( but im pretty sure it was meant in a friendly context) At any rate, he told me he cares about me and wants to see me happy. He also said something when pretending he had the ability to see into the future. he said " i see you happy in a relationship with some guy, whom though is cloudy and i can not tell". And last night when i was hanging out with him, he was very cuddly. putting his head on my shoulder and lap and holding my hand etc. and later that night, one of his friends started comparing me to my friends latest ex...and how much better i was than her but why
